Hilarious scenes - maybe the series has peaked too early on...
3 May 2016 | by aarnaarnSee all my reviews

For those of us who read 'My family and other animals', this series is a real treat! As well as our intrepid young Gerald having amusing encounters of the zoological kind, the characterization of family members, and the local populace, is very entertaining. In particular the older brother Leslie stalking (almost) anything that moves, using an arsenal of antiquated weaponry, dressed in khaki shorts and bushman's hat. The Captain Creech boat scene (this episode) is hilarious, reminiscent of Jeff Bridges in the remake of 'True Grit'.

Unfortunately episode V couldn't sustain the level of humor, but let's hope the final episode goes out with a bang or two.
